Why should a woman have a breast ultrasound in preparation for IVF?<\/h2>\n

Dr Robert Gizler: It is estimated that about 1.5 million women worldwide develop breast cancer each year and about 400 000 die, and it is the most common cancer in women. In Poland, breast cancer accounts for 22% of all malignancies in women. Although the highest incidence rate (80%) occurs after the age of 50, the incidence in the 20-49 age group has increased almost 1.7 times in the last three decades.<\/p>\n

Breast cancer develops unseen, without any symptoms at first. On the other hand, we must remember that the earlier the lesions are detected, the greater the chance of a full cure.<\/p>\n

Some breast cancers are hormone-sensitive lesions and exposure to chronic hormone therapy can further accelerate their growth. The best method for detecting suspicious breast lesions, in addition to patient self-examination, is for young women to breast ultrasound examination<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Breast ultrasound<\/a><\/h2>\n

Breast ultrasound, or breast ultrasound, is one of the fundamental elements of cancer prevention for women. It is a completely non-invasive procedure that uses ultrasound waves. Ultrasound is safe - it can even be performed in pregnant women.<\/p>\n

No special preparation is needed for the breast ultrasound, apart from taking care of your hygiene and making an appointment for the examination in the first half of your cycle. The examination itself takes about 15 minutes. You will need to remove your clothes and underwear from your upper body. The doctor will apply a special gel to the breast and move the probe over it. The doctor may press harder in certain areas and position the probe at different angles for better quality and accuracy of measurement.<\/p>\n

Breast ultrasound can be performed within the framework of the National Health Fund, based on a referral from a gynaecologist or oncologist. Most gynaecological outpatient clinics have an ultrasound machine, and each clinic is obliged to provide patients with access to diagnostic ultrasound. The doctor may order such examinations for women of any age, as often as is medically necessary.<\/p>\n
