The Levosert IUD is one of the long-acting, reversible methods of contraception. It is a method which, at almost 100%, protects against unplanned pregnancy for 3 years. It is mainly recommended for women suffering from excessive menstrual bleeding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Levosert contraceptive pill<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Levosert by Gedeon Richter is a therapeutic system with contraceptive action for use in the uterine cavity. It is used for the treatment of excessive menstrual bleeding. Levosert contains 52 mg of levonorgestrel, a synthetic hormone from the progestogen group, also commonly used in other hormonal contraceptives. It releases a maximum of 0.02 mg of the hormone in 24 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mechanism of action of an intramuscular therapeutic system containing levonorgestrel is mainly based on a hormonal action, consisting of:<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n <\/header>\n

    Who cannot use Levosert IUD?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Most ladies tolerate the insertion and function of the Levosert system well, but not all can benefit from it. Therefore, a gynaecological examination and a breast examination should be carried out before the procedure. Pregnancy, endometrial lesions and sexually transmitted diseases should be excluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      What does the Levosert insertion procedure look like?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      The Levosert IUD insertion procedure is simple and safe as long as it is performed by an experienced gynaecologist. Levosert is inserted during menstruation. After childbirth, Levosert can be inserted from the sixth week after birth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The process of inserting the IUD itself is instant and may involve only minor discomfort. Levosert is very small, about 3 cm long. The IUD is inserted into the uterus through the vagina and cervix using a thin tube - similar to regular IUDs (coils).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Most women report that insertion of the system involves only minor discomfort. However, there are some patients for whom it can be uncomfortable, in which case painkillers or local anaesthesia can be used. Six weeks after insertion, the patient should attend a follow-up appointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
