One of them comes up particularly often: will I be able to become a father in the future?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s a natural concern. Fertility preservation ensures you retain the option of having children in the future. Thanks to <strong>cryopreservation<\/strong> Once you\u2019ve had your sperm analysed, you can start treatment with peace of mind, knowing that you\u2019ve taken care of your future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"czym-jest-zabezpieczenie-plodnosci\"><strong>What is fertility preservation?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n<section class=\"content-background\">\n        <div class=\"content-background__wrapper\">\n        <div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fertility preservation involves the cryopreservation of sperm, i.e. freezing it at a very low temperature (around \u2013196\u00b0C in liquid nitrogen).\u00a0 A properly prepared sample can be stored for many years and used in the future to treat infertility.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n    <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"jak-wyglada-zabezpieczenie-plodnosci-u-mezczyzny\"><strong><strong>How does fertility preservation work for men?<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Before surgical treatment of genital cancers (testicular cancer, prostate cancer, penile cancer)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Before the system-wide <strong>cancer treatment (chemotherapy, radiotherapy<\/strong>(a), which can usually cause a permanent reduction in semen parameters<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Before treating conditions that may <strong>permanently impair sperm quality<\/strong>, particularly <strong>diseases<\/strong> <strong>autoimmune<\/strong> or <strong>genetic disorders<\/strong> with a proven effect on fertility<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Before <strong>surgery on the genital organs<\/strong> for reasons other than cancer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the case of conditions that may affect fertility, it is advisable to make the decision to preserve fertility as early as possible \u2013 before there is an irreversible decline in sperm quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/invimed.pl\/en\/treatment-of-infertility\/oncofertility\/\">Funding is currently available to cancer patients through a government programme covering the collection, freezing and storage of sperm. <\/a>Cancer patients are seen on a fast-track basis.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"dostepne-metody\"><strong><strong>Available methods:<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/invimed.pl\/en\/vitrification-or-freezing-of-embryos-and-gametes\/\">sperm freezing \u2013 the most commonly used method,<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>freezing of testicular tissue \u2013 used in selected cases where it is not possible to obtain sperm by other means.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"kiedy-warto-rozwazyc-zabezpieczenie-plodnosci\"><strong><strong>When should you consider fertility treatment?<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>1. Preparation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is recommended that you abstain from sex for 2\u20135 days before providing a semen sample.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prior to the procedure, tests are carried out to screen for infectious diseases (including HIV, HBV and HCV), in accordance with current standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2. Collection of material for fertility preservation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sample is collected by the patient providing a semen sample at the clinic via masturbation into a sterile container, in a specially prepared, comfortable and private room with an en-suite bathroom, ensuring complete privacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before providing a sample, it is recommended that you follow basic hygiene guidelines, including washing your hands and genital area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In medical situations where it is not possible to obtain a semen sample, sperm is collected directly from the testicle or epididymis during a brief procedure:<strong> classical<\/strong> <strong>a testicular or epididymal biopsy, or using an operating microscope (TESE \/ mTESE).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>3. Assessment and preparation of the material<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The semen is analysed in a specialist embryology laboratory (sperm count, motility and morphology) and then prepared for freezing. The sample is divided into portions that can be used in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>4. Cryopreservation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A special solution is added to the sample to protect the sperm from damage during freezing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The samples are gradually frozen under controlled conditions and stored in liquid nitrogen at a temperature of approximately \u2013196\u00b0C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>5. Storage and use<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Frozen sperm can be stored for many years and used in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>If you are considering fertility preservation, you should consult an andrologist at Invimed who specialises in assessing suitability for sperm cryopreservation.
