The Kyleena system is used to prevent pregnancy (contraception) for up to 5 years.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kaleena contraceptive system stands for contraceptive effect, comfort of use (the IUD cannot be felt by the patient or her partner) and a guarantee that fertility will return as soon as the system is removed. A patient with the Kyleena system can also safely have an MRI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is the Kyleena system and how does it work?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Kyleena is one of the most modern and innovative contraceptive systems. It belongs to the group of 'T'-shaped intrauterine therapeutic systems which, when inserted into the uterine cavity, slowly release a small amount of the hormone, levonorgestrel. The Kyleena system is fitted with a reservoir containing 19.5 mg of levonorgestrel. This is a synthetic progestogen that is released steadily:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. reduces the monthly growth of the endometrium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. thickens cervical mucus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This action prevents the sperm from coming into contact with the egg cell and thus prevents the sperm from fertilising the egg cell. No fertilisation occurs with this method of contraception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dimensions of the system, like the operation, are identical to those of the\u00a0Jaydess IUD<\/a>. Unlike Jaydess, Kyleena guarantees a contraceptive effect for up to five years and, thanks to its higher average hormone release (12 \u00b5g per day), has a slightly greater effect on reducing the abundance of menstruation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who cannot use the Kyleena system?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Kyleena contraceptive system is a very convenient method of contraception. However, not every woman can use it. The possibility of inserting the system is decided by the gynaecologist in each case. Before the IUD is inserted, a detailed medical history and the tests indicated by the doctor are necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Treatment of the Kyleena system<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Before inserting the Kyleena system, you should consult your gynaecologist. The doctor will carry out a history, breast examination, gynaecological examination and order a cervical smear (cytology). Tests for infections and sexually transmitted diseases may also be necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The Kyleena contraceptive system should be inserted within 7 days after the start of menstrual bleeding. If inserting the system after childbirth, wait at least 6 weeks for the uterus to return to its normal size.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Course of treatment<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    1 Immediately prior to insertion of the system, the doctor will carry out a gynaecological examination to determine the position and size of the uterus.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    2 After the examination, a speculum is placed in the vagina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    (3) The cervix may be washed with an antiseptic solution. Local anaesthesia of the cervix may also be used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    4 The Kyleena system is then inserted into the uterus through the applicator (a thin, flexible plastic tube).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    5 After insertion of the Kyleena system, dizziness, pain and minor bleeding may occur. Such symptoms should resolve within a few days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The Kyleena system should be inspected 4-6 weeks after fitting and then checked regularly, at least once a year. <\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n \t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n
