The Jaydess IUD, unlike systemic contraceptives (pills, injections, implants, patches), releases hormones locally within the uterus. Only minimal amounts of hormone enter the bloodstream. In most cases, Jaydess does not affect ovulation, which means that the ovaries continue to produce oestrogen while the IUD is in use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jaydess IUD<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Bayer's Jaydess contains 13.5 mg of levonorgestrel, a synthetic hormone from the progestogen group, also commonly used in other hormonal contraceptives (which lasts several years longer Mirena contraceptive coil<\/a> releases the same hormone). However, it does not contain hormones from the oestrogen group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The contraceptive action of Jaydess is manifested by the topical release of a small dose of levonorgestrel, which:<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n <\/header>\n

    thickens the cervical mucus, preventing the free migration of sperm to the egg,<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/li>\n

    inhibits the proliferation of the uterine mucosa, whose membrane becomes thin and incapable of accepting an egg.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/li>\n <\/ul>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n

    Moreover, the IUD itself, as a foreign body, creates an unfavourable environment for the sperm in the uterus and fallopian tubes, reducing their motility and thus hindering the fertilisation of the egg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Who cannot use a Jaydess insert?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Jaydess is the smallest hormonal intrauterine system available on the market, making it suitable for almost all women, even those who have not previously given birth. Most ladies tolerate the insertion and function of the Jaydess system well, but not all can benefit from it. Therefore, a medical examination, including a pelvic organ examination, breast examination and cervical smear, should be carried out before the procedure. Pregnancy, endometrial lesions and sexually transmitted diseases should be excluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      malignant neoplasm of the body or cervix,<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/li>\n

      undiagnosed vaginal bleeding.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/li>\n <\/ul>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n

      What does the procedure of putting on Jaydess look like?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      The procedure for inserting the Jaydess coil is simple and safe, as long as it is performed by an experienced gynaecologist. The insertion process itself is instantaneous and may involve only minor discomfort. The insertion procedure is performed with a special applicator. The IUD itself is a 3 cm long T-shaped intrauterine frame made of a flexible polymer. Its presence in the uterus is not perceptible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      When does the Jaydess insert take effect?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      If inserted within 7 days of the first day of menstruation, the IUD provides immediate protection against pregnancy for approximately 3 years. If inserted at any other point in the cycle, additional condom use is recommended for the first 7 days after insertion. The first intercourse can be performed 24 hours after insertion of the Jaydess IUD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
