Take care of safe contraception so you don't struggle with infertility in the futureandÄ….

Doctors at Invimed have more than once in their practice met with couples in whom poorly selected contraception was used, which resulted in problems in subsequent stages of life, including infertility. That is why in the Invimed clinic in Gdynia we offer our patients the opportunity to consult gynaecologists-obstetricians and at the same time experienced specialists in contraceptive gynaecology.

Poorly chosen contraception can cause: headaches, nervousness, prolonged spotting, decreased libido, hair loss. There can also be complications in the form of venous thrombosis, as well as serious fertility disorders once the contraception has been discontinued.

Correct contraception

We can speak of correct contraception when it has been selected according to individual indications, i.e. taking into account:

  • the patient's age,

  • history of previous treatment,

  • lifestyle and frequency of intercourse,

  • perceived hypersensitivity or sensitisation,

  • possible non-conceptual benefits,

  • the body's predisposition.

We can speak of correct contraception when it has been selected according to individual indications, i.e. taking into account:

More than a consultation with a gynaecologist

Contraceptive gynaecology at Invimed in Gdynia is more than just the opportunity to consult a gynaecologist who will select the optimal contraceptive method. It is also a selection of general gynaecology procedures:

All of the above-mentioned procedures are performed at the Invimed Gdynia infertility clinic by excellent gynaecologists who not only have a great deal of knowledge and skills, but often also international experience and scientific achievements.

Removal of IUDs, spirals and contraceptive implants

At Invimed Gdynia, we also perform IUD, coil and contraceptive implant removal procedures. The procedures are carried out with the utmost care for the patient's comfort.

If a woman decides to have the implant removed within three years of insertion, the doctor can remove it at any time. The procedure then involves making an incision in the skin, removing the implant and placing a compression bandage, which should be worn around the clock. Fertility already returns in the next cycle after removal of the implant.

Contraceptive methods

During a contraceptive consultation with an Invimed gynaecologist, the specialist will take a detailed history, review your previous test results or order further tests. On the basis of the information gathered, he or she will suggest the best method of contraception in your case.

Hormonal contraception

Hormonal contraception

The contraceptive effect is provided by hormone therapy based on the normal processes in a woman's body over the course of her life, as a result of which she cannot become pregnant. With contraceptive pills (oestrogen-gestogen preparations), ovulation is blocked but the regularity of the cycle is maintained. In contraception without oestrogens, the woman's body enters a hypoestrogenic state causing a reduction in the abundance of menstruation, which can also be used as a therapeutic effect, up to the stopping of menstruation - a pseudo-pregnancy state used outside contraception, e.g. in the treatment of endometriosis. Hormonal contraceptives include: the pill (including the pill after intercourse), injections, implants and contraceptive patches.

Mechanical contraception

Mechanical contraception

Mechanical contraception involves creating a barrier that makes it difficult enough for sperm to reach the egg to prevent fertilisation. The most common of the mechanical methods is the use of a condom by the man (protects against pregnancy, but also against sexually transmitted diseases). However, other methods are also possible: IUDs and vaginal membranes and cervical caps.

Chemical contraception

Chemical contraception

Chemical contraceptives contain spermicidal substances that paralyse sperm, reduce their viability and thicken cervical mucus, making it difficult for them to reach the egg. These are mainly spermicidal gels and creams, foams and vaginal contraceptive globules.

Natural contraception

Natural contraception

Sometimes for health reasons, other times for worldview reasons, the only acceptable method of contraception is the natural prevention of pregnancy. The effectiveness of this method depends not only on the observation of symptoms such as the amount and consistency of cervical mucus or the measurement of body temperature, but also on health. Many users of natural contraception use a marital diary or fertility days calculator. However, it is important to remember that any infection or illness can falsify the results, making it very difficult to determine fertile days.
