A story with a happy ending.
Discover the story of our patients from Gdansk. A story that has already found its happy ending.
What kind of path did you go through? Probably the most classic one. First we tried it ourselves, using ovulation tests. Not really knowing or understanding how it all worked.
Then I went to Dr Makowska, who started by monitoring my cycle. Then we started in a more controlled way, having - thanks to her - a better idea of how to monitor ovulation.
It is good to know more than what is written on the internet and on leaflets. Support yourself with your doctor's knowledge and don't rely on luck. Not on such an important topic.
After checking three cycles, the doctor referred us for an insemination procedure. However, the doctor did not set us up for sure that it would be successful. We had some hope, but it didn't work out.
Then, over the next few months we did all the research. We decided then, just a little bit without pressure, that if we didn't succeed for six months, we would move towards the IVF decision.
After six months, when we were already decided on this method of treatment, we found out about the possibility of a grant from the City of Gdansk.
Did you then decide to use the UM? Actually, no. Different information was coming to us. Sometimes that it was just around the corner and sometimes that there were more protests against the programme. We decided not to wait. And when we actually had everything ready, completed and refreshed some of the studies, it turned out that the Town Hall had made a decision on funding.
We make no secret of the fact that this has helped us a great deal. These funds are much needed. Anyone who is trying to have a child knows very well how they can be used.
How was the procedure? Did you have any concerns? The procedure is not scary or intimidating. Especially if you read all the materials beforehand and ask all the questions that bother you. We did just that. We asked the doctors and staff at InviMed all the questions that were on our minds. All our doubts were cleared up. I think this is really important. Because after all, when we know what's ahead of us, we have nothing to be afraid of.
What advice would you give to couples who are trying to have a baby and are having trouble getting pregnant? I just shared my experience with friends who were having similar problems. Today - and we are three couples - all three of us are pregnant and it's really amazing.
I think it is important to talk about this, that the IVF procedure is simply a treatment method, like any other treatment for any other illness. If we have a toothache, we go to the dentist, if something else is bothering us, we go to a specialist in that particular field. If we have problems getting pregnant, we go to an infertility clinic. I think that this was our approach and that it is worth promoting.
We must remember that when we come to an infertility clinic, we do not immediately make a decision about methods and procedures. We make a decision about treatment. It is she who is the first and most important step.
Why InviMed?First of all, specialisation and intimacy. The fact that the clinic specialises in infertility treatment, that we meet people in the corridor and in the office who are familiar with the subject, who have dealt with it, gives us a sense of comfort. This was important to us, especially after the experience we had from one visit to another clinic.
