Non-invasive prenatal testing available at Invimed.
When a little human being is growing under your heart, there are many questions in your mind: about his or her health, safety and future. The answer to some of these lies in your blood sample, and next-generation prenatal testing can help you find them: VERACITY and VERAgene, which can be performed at all Invimed clinics.
During pregnancy, tiny fragments of the baby's free DNA (cffDNA) float in the mother's blood. These originate from the placenta and are the result of natural processes in the body.
Just by taking mum's blood, you can get a glimpse into this microscopic world and learn more about the health of the little one - safely for mum and baby.
What is VERACITY and VERAgene?
These are prenatal tests, available from the 9th week of pregnancy. They allow a non-invasive assessment of the risk of selected genetic diseases in the baby at an early stage of pregnancy.
What the test can tell me VERACITY?
Study VERACITY is a non-invasive prenatal test (NIPT) with high accuracy (over 99%), available from the 9th week of pregnancy. It analyses free fetal DNA (cffDNA) circulating in the mother's blood.
Checks the possibility of
-
the most common trisomies: Down's syndrome, Edwards' syndrome, Patau's syndrome,
-
sex chromosome disorders causing Turner syndrome, Klinefelter syndrome, Jacobs syndrome, among others,
-
Microdeletions causing e.g. DiGeorge syndrome (22q11.2), Smith-Magenis, Wolf-Hirschhorn.
How to prepare for the study?
There is no need to be fasting. We draw blood from a vein from the mother-to-be at any time of day.
What questions does the survey answer VERAgene?
VERAgene is an advanced, non-invasive prenatal test that gives parents-to-be the broadest knowledge of their baby's health. Just as VERACITY, checks the most common developmental disorders for Down syndrome, Turner syndrome, DiGeorge syndrome and others.
By combining an analysis of the baby's DNA with an examination of the parents' genetic material, it is additionally able to detect more than 100 genetic diseases that may only become apparent after birth. These include changes responsible for birth defects, sight or hearing problems, more serious developmental difficulties or organ dysfunctions.
VERAgene is the best choice for parents who want a more complete and accurate picture of their baby's health. Before the introduction of non-invasive genetic testing (NIPT), such a wide range of information was only possible with invasive tests (e.g. amniocentesis), which carried a risk of miscarriage.
How to prepare for the study?
There is no need to be fasting. We draw blood from a vein from the mother-to-be at any time of day.
At the same time, a cheek swab will be taken from dad's cheek. One hour before the swab, dad cannot drink (except water), eat, chew gum, smoke or brush his teeth.
Both mum and dad are invited to the examination at the same time.
Who can benefit from research?
From prenatal testing VERACITY and VERAgene can benefit women:
- any age
- from the 9th week of pregnancy
- in singleton or twin pregnancies
- pregnant after an in vitro procedure
In pregnancy after in vitro fertilisation with donor cells, we recommend the following the VERACITY study.
