Procedure for hymen restoration
The essence of the hymenoplasty procedure is to fold the mucosa, stretch it and suture it in such a way that it regains its former form. The procedure is relatively uncomplicated, but requires appropriate preparation:
-
in the two weeks preceding the operation, do not use vitamin E, anti-influenza or anti-cough medicines, acetylsalicylic acid or its derivatives, as such preparations may increase bleeding during the operation;
-
if you develop an infection in the two weeks before the operation, tell your doctor;
-
it is recommended to limit smoking to 3-4 cigarettes per day three days before the procedure;
-
if the surgery will be carried out under general anaesthesia, you should not eat or drink for six hours before the operation;
-
blood tests (blood count, glucose, fibrinogen (so-called first clotting factor), sodium, potassium, APTT) are necessary before general anaesthesia.
Requirements for hymen restoration surgery
Before undergoing hymenoplasty, the patient should talk to her gynaecologist about her motivation to undergo this procedure. It is also necessary to assess her general health and intimate health, so a gynaecological examination (it is very important to exclude the presence of vulvovaginal inflammation) and a cytological examination should be performed.
Contraindications to the hymenoplasty procedure
The hymen restoration procedure must not be performed on pregnant women, menstruating women or cancer patients. Also contraindicated for hymenoplasty are infections in the vulva and vagina, blood clotting disorders and diabetes.
