What is ovarian mesotherapy? What does it involve?
The mesotherapy procedure involves puncturing the ovaries and administering platelet-rich plasma extracted from the patient's blood. This allows regenerative processes to take place in the ovary, resulting in their 'rejuvenation' - increase the chance of pregnancy, oocyte and embryo retrieval.
The mechanism of the treatment is the same as that of mesotherapy familiar to many women in, for example, aesthetic medicine, but also in orthopaedics or dentistry.
Women's reproductive potential decreases with age, which means that it becomes more difficult for them to get pregnant. A decreasing number of ova, often of poorer quality, can cause IVF failures. One way to improve these important parameters is to stimulate the 'dormant' ovaries so that they are stimulated to work again.
Ovarian mesotherapy with platelet-rich plasma - why is it worth it?
Low AMH poses quite a challenge for infertility treatment specialists. A woman's reproductive potential decreases with age and this is an irreversible process. In such a situation, mesotherapy may be an opportunity to 'defy' the passing of time.
Ovarian injections can have a positive effect on the number of available ova. This increases the chances of IVF success. The more and better the quality of the egg cells, the more embryos can be created. In turn, the number and quality of embryos determine the success of in vitro fertilisation.
| EFFECTIVENESS Ovarian mesotherapy with platelet-rich plasma is a modern, safe and, above all, effective treatment! |
For whom is ovarian mesotherapy treatment?
-
The procedure is recommended for all ladies with reduced ovarian reserve (low AMH).
-
Ovarian mesotherapy is indicated in cases of early ovarian function extinction (POI/POF).
-
The method can also be used in women with poor oocyte quality.
-
Ovarian rejuvenation is recommended after an unsuccessful IVF procedure when a low number and poor quality of oocytes have been obtained.
-
It is also used in women at the menopausal stage with contraindications to HTZ (hormone replacement therapy).
What does the ovarian injection procedure involve?
The ovarian mesotherapy procedure involves injecting the ovaries with platelet-rich plasma obtained, as in, for example, aesthetic medicine or dermatology, after centrifugation of a blood sample.
Ovarian injections are performed under short-term general anaesthesia.
An appointment for the procedure must be made within 10 days of the cessation of menstrual bleeding. In non-menstruating women, the date is arbitrary.
Before the procedure, the nurse takes a sample of the patient's blood, similar to a standard blood test. This blood is then centrifuged appropriately . The platelet rich plasma (PRP) obtained is the so-called autologous preparation, i.e. it comes from the Patient.
Plasma is a platelet concentrate that is full of growth factors and regenerative factors that make cells divide, differentiate and grow faster. As a result, the desired regenerative processes take place in the injected area and the renewal processes in the ovaries are activated.
Ovarian rejuvenation is performed under short-term general anaesthesia in the treatment room and under ultrasound guidance. During the procedure, the gynaecologist injects the ovaries through the vagina with prepared plasma.
After the procedure, the Patient is taken to the recovery room, where she rests for about an hour. The entire stay in the clinic lasts approximately 3-4h depending on the Patient's well-being.
How long does it take to see the effects of mesotherapy?
You have to wait about 6 weeks for the effects of the treatment. After this time, AMH, FSH, E2 and AFC are determined between days 2-4 of the cycle. Based on the results of these tests, the doctor decides when to start stimulation for the IVF procedure.
Ovarian rejuvenation - what tests are needed for the procedure?
In order to perform ovarian mesotherapy correctly, specialised equipment, experienced medical staff and a properly selected diagnostic pathway are required. The treatment is referred by the doctor on the basis of examination results and medical history.
What tests before mesotherapy?
In order to carry out the procedure, tests from the following list must be carried out - carefully indicated by the doctor during the visit:
-
AMH levels,
-
FSH, Estradiol, ultrasound - performed on day 2-4 of the cycle,
-
CSF - cervical canal swab for aerobic , anaerobic , mycological , biocenosis, chlamydia, mycoplasma, ureaplasma - valid 6 months after testing,
-
LBC valid one year after the test,
-
the coagulation system,
-
blood group,
-
morphology,
-
TSH, fT4.
What are the contraindications to mesotherapy?
Ovarian rejuvenation is preceded by a thorough medical qualification. What are the contraindications?
-
active infection,
-
cancer,
-
ovarian failure with a genetic basis,
-
use of anticoagulants (a break of several days prior to treatment is recommended),
-
serious blood clotting disorder,
-
poor general condition.
The ovarian mesotherapy procedure is one of the safe procedures. One of its major advantages is the use of plasma from the patient's own blood, which eliminates the risk of any allergic reaction.
How much does mesotherapy cost?
The cost of mesotherapy should include: visits to the gynaecologist, the tests ordered by the doctor and the anaesthetic and mesotherapy procedure.
