Tests for in vitro

In vitro fertilisation is a complex procedure that requires proper preparation. It is necessary to carry out an infertility diagnosis in order to find a possible cause of failure and, once it is known that IVF is necessary, also a pre-procedure diagnosis. Tests for IVF have a certain validity, so it is sometimes necessary to repeat them before the next procedure.

The quality of the gametes used for IVF and the general health of the woman and her partner are some of the most important factors influencing the success of the IVF procedure, which is why the doctor must review the results of all the tests ordered before the ova are retrieved and combined with the sperm in the laboratory.

Preliminary tests for in vitro

Initially, the woman performs the following tests: assessment of AMH levels, FSH, TSH i prolactin, as well as cytology. At the time, her partner tests semen - the sample is subjected to an extended analysis, which allows the detection of possible abnormalities in the structure or function of the spermatozoa and the adjustment of the course of treatment to the semen parameters.

Tests required for in vitro

The next stage of testing involves the tests necessary for ovarian follicle puncture (oocyte retrieval).

In women these are:

  • APTT

  • fasting blood glucose levels

  • anti-HBc antibodies

  • cervical canal smear for Chlamydia Trachomatis by PCR

  • anti-HCV antibodies

Attention! APTT, sodium, potassium, glucose, morphology are all tests needed for anaesthesia and are best performed immediately prior to surgery (within one month prior to surgery).

In turn in men, the following are performed:

  • cytomegalovirus antibodies IgG and IgM class
