Who are the donors?

Oocyte donors are healthy women under the age of 30 who have given birth to at least one healthy child. Each undergoes a series of tests to rule out viral or genetic diseases. In addition, they are checked psychologically. Thanks to the rigorous procedures, the likelihood of pregnancy is significantly increased.

The recipient can choose her donor before deciding on this method. The clinic provides patients with information about their appearance, including their height, weight, eye and hair colour.

How the procedure works oocyte adoption?

The egg donation and implantation procedure is similar to standard IVF treatment. After a thorough examination, a woman receiving an egg from a donor will need hormone treatment to prepare to receive the fertilised egg. If the woman still has functioning ovaries, she will need estrogen and progesterone therapy to ensure that her cycle coincides exactly with that of the donor.

In the meantime, the donor woman will also undergo hormone therapy. When the ova are ready, they will be retrieved and fertilised with the sperm of the donor's partner or sperm from a donor. A few days later, the embryo or embryos will be implanted in the recipient's uterus. The patient will have to take hormones for about 10 weeks after the procedure.

Donor eggs can be frozen for later use, but the chances of success are lower with frozen eggs.
