I wasn't afraid to talk about it.
One of InviMed's patients in Katowice - Karolina - shared her story and experiences of infertility treatment in Joanna Przetakiewicz's book 'I wasn't afraid to talk about it'. Read how this unusual collaboration came about and the finale of the story.
When I met Dr Patrycja Sodowska at Invimed Katowice over four years ago, I had absolutely no idea how much my life would change.
A few months before the wedding, my husband and I went for our first appointment, to check on my endometriosis and get checked out, as we were both almost 35 and that magic number made us want to eliminate any possible obstacles to getting pregnant quickly.
In retrospect, I know that this visit was one of the best decisions we made, as it saved us several years of futile efforts and disappointment.
My endometriosis was joined by thyroid problems and a diagnosed immune infertility.
Dozens of appointments, treatments, four inseminations, one hyperstimulation, four frozen embryos, two transfers and one little miracle girl named Kiara have shown me what I am capable of and how strong I am. Strong despite many breakdowns and miscarriages.
While I was still in treatment, I looked online for information about the treatments, but I wasn't interested in online forums. No one among my friends had been treated (at least that's what I thought at the time), and I wanted some woman to tell me what it would all look like, whether it hurt and what to expect. All I could find on YouTube were vlogs, mostly from the States, where it just looks different.
I decided that I needed to create something like this myself and so after Kiara was born I created a profile on Instagram @mama.invitro and a YouTube channel mama.invitro!
A year ago, Joanna Przetakiewicz made a post on her Instagram profile asking women to send in their stories, the kind that give strength and show that there is no situation without a way out.
I know that my story is not just mine. It concerns many couples trying to have a baby and will be read and heard by thousands of women! For those who are struggling, it will give them strength, and for those who don't have to, it will show how amazing we all are and motivate them to support us in this fight.
The premiere of the book 'I wasn't afraid to talk about it' by Joanna Przetakiewicz, which includes my story of fighting infertility, took place some time ago. The book is now on sale, and can be purchased at eranowekobiet.co.uk, among others.

We introduced Karolina's daughter Kiara on our Facebook page (see here). We are very happy that her parents have managed to survive all adversities, the hardships of diagnosis and treatment. We wish the whole family all the best and more dreams come true.
