In vitro fertilisation by hbIMSI with two-stage sperm selection
Docytoplasmic injection of morphologically selected sperm into the oocyte (IMSI), assisted by the selection of a sperm that reacts positively with hyaluronan.
Invimed clinics, for each procedure IMSI They provide their patients with a development of the method by supplementing the morphological selection of the sperm with its reaction with hyaluronate, known as hbIMSI.
What is hbIMSI about?
Sperm reacting with hyaluronan (HBA test) through specific receptors on their head are recognised as mature, the most competent to fertilise the egg and contribute to a properly developing embryo. The binding of the sperm to hyaluronan suggests that the selected sperm has undergone the entire process of spermatogenesis and spermiogenesis correctly, is biologically mature, fully functional and competent to fertilise the egg.
This means that the hbIMSI method, in addition to highly accurate morphological selection, ensures that the sperm is selected on the basis of biological competence to fertilise the egg, increasing the likelihood of proper embryo development.
This type of two-stage sperm selection increases the likelihood of better embryological outcomes and the chance of achieving a pregnancy, even in very difficult clinical cases.
Indications for the hbIMSI method:

recurrent miscarriages after other in vitro methods,

-
severe teratozoospermia in the patient (no more than 1% of normal sperm in the semen),

the use of previously frozen sperm for ICSI,
-
the use of semen obtained by puncture of the testis and epididymis for the procedure,
-
unsuccessful attempts to achieve pregnancy with ICSI (few developing embryos, poor quality, no implantation).
