IMSI-6600: injection of morphologically selected sperm

IMSI in vitro fertilisation uses advanced digital-optical technology to select the sperm for intra-cytoplasmic cell injection based on microscopic image magnification of up to 12,000 times.

What is IMSI?

IMSI is a technique that allows the detection of morphological changes in sperm organelles (particularly in the testes) that are very difficult to identify with standard ICSI, a technique that uses magnifications of up to 600 times.

Who is eligible for IMSI?

In particular, an abnormal test result is a qualification for the IMSI method MSOMEwhich is recommended in the case of severe teratozoospermia, i.e. a severely reduced proportion of morphologically normal spermatozoa found in an extended semen examination.

The technique is also indicated for couples struggling with repeated implantation failures, recurrent miscarriages and failure to obtain high-quality embryos in previous IVF cycles.

The use of the IMSI technique in the aforementioned cases increases the likelihood of obtaining better quality embryos and achieving and maintaining a pregnancy.

Indications for IVF using IMSI:

  • severe teratozoospermia and/or abnormal test result MSOME,

  • recurrent miscarriages,

  • repeated implantation failures,

  • failure and poor embryo quality in preceding IVF cycles.
