Procedure of the MonaLisa Touch™ procedure
The MonaLisa Touch™ treatment is performed using a special laser head with a scanner, which is inserted into the vagina. The laser energy acts on the vaginal mucosa, heating it and the collagen present in its tissues. The high temperature causes the collagen fibres to shrink and the numerous, precisely placed micro-injuries to the mucosa stimulate the formation of new cells and glands. The use of the laser also increases the production of glycogen, which is responsible for proper vaginal lubrication. The result is therefore not only vaginal self-healing and shrinking, but also an increase in vaginal lubrication and elasticity. The MonaLisa Touch™ treatment also contributes to the reduction of the problem of stress urinary incontinence, if present in the patient.
During the procedure, the patient feels no pain, only a slight warmth. If the external genitals are to be treated with laser, an anaesthetic may be applied about 15 minutes before the procedure. The MonaLisa Touch™ treatment takes 5-10 minutes and there is no need to prepare for it.
After laser application, the woman should remain sexually abstinent for seven days and avoid exercise, hot baths and lifting heavy objects.

Prior to the MonaLisa Touch™ treatment, the patient should have a gynaecological examination and cytology (within six months before the planned treatment).
Contraindications to the MonaLisa Touch™ procedure
Laser treatment cannot be carried out on pregnant women, menstruating women, cancer patients or those affected by a reproductive tract infection.
