'Yes to IVF' - fertility preservation.
During an expert debate in January entitled 'The oncology patient and the chances of having offspring in the Polish reality', it was agreed that the new 'Yes to IVF' programme would include refunds for freezing and banking of female and male gametes.
It was also agreed that a wide-ranging educational campaign is needed for female patients, patients and oncologists to talk about cancer in the context of also preserving fertility. Currently, there is little knowledge about fertility preservation among both oncologists and cancer patients.
The state's IVF funding programme is due to start as early as 1 June 2024.
