Psychologist
Psychological support for couples and individual patients at any stage of infertility treatment - in all Invimed clinics. All Invimed patients can benefit from one psychological consultation free of charge at any time during treatment.
Diagnosis and treatment of infertility can be a source of severe stress, especially when the efforts to have a child have been going on for many months or even years, and the relationship between the partners does not always go as they wish (e.g. they feel a lack of support or have difficulty communicating their feelings and needs). Meeting with a psychologist is, for many couples, the first step to regaining emotional balance and improving their relationship.
When to seek the help of a psychologist?
The process of infertility treatment can vary - sometimes it is successful the first time, but this is not the rule. Sometimes it is only after several attempts at insemination or IVF that a pregnancy can be achieved and maintained, which in practice means that the woman and her partner experience hard-to-accept failures.
Each of these, in addition to disappointment, causes sadness and anger, and can result in a drop in self-esteem, lowered mood and a lack of desire to continue with treatment.Â
Severe mental strain can be the start of depression, so patients who feel that the infertility problem is starting to overwhelm them should seek the support of a psychologist.
What is the purpose of consulting a psychologist?
- Talking to an experienced specialist is the moment for many couples when their hope for a successful outcome is rekindled.Â
- With the advice and support of a psychologist, they learn how to deal with difficult emotions, how to communicate with their partner and how to care for the relationship so that it - despite difficulties - survives.
- Consultations are also helpful for those couples who feel pressure from their surroundings (relatives' irreverent questions about children) or who do not have the support of their relatives (family disassociates themselves from the issue of infertility treatment or is critical of it).
Patients make individual appointments with the psychologist.
